Hélio Gracie (Belém do Pará, 1 de outubro de 1913 – Petrópolis, 29 de janeiro de 2009) foi o patriarca da família Gracie. Foi responsável pela difusão do Jiu-Jitsu no Brasil e idealizador do estilo de arte marcial brasileira conhecido mundialmente como Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Descendente distante de escoceses, quando era apenas uma criança sua família mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro. Devido à sua frágil saúde, Hélio, o mais franzino dos Gracie, não podia treinar o Judô tradicional ensinado pelos seus irmãos, especialmente Carlos Gracie.
Observador, Hélio passou a acompanhar, dos seus treze aos dezesseis anos, as aulas ministradas por Carlos. Aprendeu todas as técnicas e ensinamentos de seu irmão, mas, para compensar seu biotipo, Hélio aprimorou a parte de solo tradicional, através do uso do dispositivo de alavanca, dando-lhe a força extra que não possuía, criando assim o Jiu-Jitsu Brasileiro (hoje internacionalmente conhecido como Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, ou BJJ).
