Hélio Gracie (portoghese: ; 1 ottobre 1913 – gennaio 29, 2009) è stato un Brasiliano di arti marziali che, insieme con suo fratello Carlos Gracie, fondata l'arte marziale del Gracie jiu-jitsu, noto anche come Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Secondo Rorion Gracie, suo padre Hélio è uno dei primi eroi dello sport nella storia del brasile; è stato nominato Uomo dell'Anno nel 1997 dall'Americano di arti marziali pubblicazione Black Belt magazine. Un patriarca della famiglia Gracie, egli fu il padre di Rickson, Royler, Royce, Relson, e Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), co-fondatore Rorion Gracie, tra gli altri figli e figlie.
Gracie è nato il 1 ottobre del 1913, a Belém do Pará, in Brasile. Un ragazzo molto atletico, si è formato nel canottaggio e nuoto, della sua infanzia, e ha avuto il suo primo contatto di arti marziali a 16 anni, quando ha iniziato la formazione di judo (a quel tempo comunemente indicato come "Kano Jiu-jitsu" o semplicemente "Jiu-Jitsu"), con i suoi fratelli Carlos e George. Ha anche imparato catch wrestling sotto la celebre Orlando Americo "Dudú" da Silva, che ha anche insegnato ai suoi fratelli per un periodo di tempo.
