Amel Bachir, dite Amel Bent, est une chanteuse de variété française, de R'n'B et de pop, née le 21 juin 1985.
Amel Bent s'est fait connaître en participant en 2004 à la saison 2 de l'émission Nouvelle Star diffusée sur M6. Elle finira troisième de la compétition, et sortira la même année son premier album Un jour d'été.
Née en France d'un père algérien et d'une mère marocaine, Amel Bent grandit à La Courneuve. Elle a une demi-sœur, Mélissa, avec qui elle partage son amour pour la musique, ainsi qu'un demi frère, Ilies. Adolescente, elle se destine au métier de profiler, tout en étant passionnée de musique. C'est son professeur de musique qui la poussa à chanter. Elle intégrera ensuite une chorale de Gospel.
Après de nombreux castings infructueux, la tante d'Amel l'inscrit à la Nouvelle Star en décembre 2003. Elle passe le casting à Lille et le jury la sélectionne, à trois voix contre une. Éliminée lors des demi-finales, elle finira troisième. Cette émission signe le début de sa carrière.
