Bessie Lillian Gordy Carter (15 de agosto de 1898 – 30 de outubro de 1983), foi a mãe do ex-Presidente dos Estados Unidos, Jimmy Carter. Ela também era conhecido por suas contribuições para a enfermagem, em seu estado natal da Geórgia e como voluntário do Corpo da Paz na Índia, bem como a elaboração de dois livros durante a presidência de Carter.
Carter nasceu Bessie Lillian Gordy, em 1898, em Richland, Georgia, para James Jackson Gordy (1863-1948) e Maria Ida Nicholson (1871-1951).
