E-40, właściwie Earl Stevens (ur. 15 listopada 1967) - amerykański raper reprezentujący zachodnie wybrzeże Stanów Zjednoczonych, a dokładnie rejon Zatoki San Francisco.
Stevens wychował się w Vallejo. Zadebiutował w roku 1990 na minialbumie Let's Side. Produkcją płyty zajęli się Mike Mosley i Al Eaton, natomiast wydaniem albumu zajęła się niezależna wytwórnia Sick Wid' It Records założona przez samego E-40. W 1993 roku wydał swój pierwszy długogrający album zatytułowany Federal. Zawierał on początkowo 14 utworów, gdyż reedycja wydana dwa lata później miała 11 piosenek. Wyprodukowaniem płyty zajął się Studio Ton, wydawcą był Stevens, we współpracy z SMG (Solar Music Group). Po pokazie talentów na Grambling State University, E-40, B-Legit, Suga-T i D-Shot utworzyli grupę muzyczną The Click.
W 1994 r. 40 Water, wraz z Too $hortem, Spice 1 i Ant Banksem byli pierwszym raperami z Bay Arena, którym udało się zdobyć kontrakt z komercyjną wytwórnią Jive Records. In a Major Way był drugim studyjnym albumem E-40. Został wydany w marcu 1995 r. Muzyka wspomogli Tupac Shakur, Spice 1, Mac Shawn z grupy Funk Mobb czy Celly Cel. W pierwszym tygodniu sprzedał się w ilości 70.000 egzemplarzy, debiutując na 13. miejscu notowania Billboard 200. Jest to jedyna płyta rapera, która uzyskała status platynowej płyty. Do 2000 roku Stevens wydał kilka albumów, z których dwa (Tha Hall of Game i The Element of Surprise) stały się złote.
