Akon, właściwie Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam (ur. 30 kwietnia 1973 w Saint Louis) – amerykański raper i piosenkarz R&B. Jego najbardziej znane piosenki to Lonely, Smack That, I Wanna Love You czy Right Now (Na Na Na). Ma senegalskie korzenie.
Syn perkusisty jazzowego Mora Thiama. Akon ma jedną żonę (Tomeka), trójkę dzieci ze swoją żoną (Lil'Ali, Mahommed, Jah Jah), oraz dwójkę, których nie urodziła jego żona. Plotki o posiadaniu trzech żon sprostował w wywiadzie dla amerykańskiego magazynu Blender w 2007 roku. Akon deklaruje, że ma świetny kontakt ze wszystkimi dziećmi. Uważa, że jego religia czyni go lepszą osobą.
Pierwsze nagrania z domowego studia trafiły do wytwórni SRC/Universal. Akon zadebiutował w czerwcu 2004 r. albumem Trouble. Z tej właśnie płyty pochodzi przebój Lonely.
Kolejny jego album to Konvicted, na którym zagościły sławy ze świata rapu takie jak Eminem, Styles P czy Snoop Dogg. Krążek został wydany pod koniec 2006 r. 24 sierpnia 2007, Akon pojawił się w Polsce na Coke Live Music Festival 2007 promując płytę Konvicted. Ta płyta przyniosła mu wiele wyróżnień i zdobyła wiele pochlebnych recenzji. Producentem płyty jest sam Akon.
