Thomas Kretschmann (Dessau, 8 settembre 1962) è un attore tedesco.
Cresce nella Germania Orientale prima della caduta del muro, diventando inizialmente nuotatore olimpico nella nazionale. A 19 anni scappa dalla Germania Orientale, e a 25 anni comincia a lavorare come attore. Il suo esordio è a teatro in una produzione del Macbeth diretta da Katharina Thalbach.
Si fa conoscere partecipando a diverse produzioni televisive prima in Germania (L'ispettore Derrick) poi negli Stati Uniti (Relic Hunter, 24).
Ottiene nel 1993 un ruolo in Stalingrad, poi lascia la Germania alla volta della Francia dove vive per tre anni e gira un paio di film. Successivamente vive e lavora per due anni in Italia dove gira tra gli altri: I cavalieri che fecero l'impresa di Pupi Avati, e La sindrome di Stendhal di Dario Argento.
Tra il 2002 e il 2005 ha lavorato a Il pianista, di Roman Polanski, Immortal Ad Vitam di Enki Bilal, e in La caduta - Gli ultimi giorni di Hitler di Oliver Hirschbiegel, nel quale interpreta il ruolo di Hermann Fegelein, un generale delle Waffen-SS e cognato di Eva Braun. Sarà il vampiro Damaskinos in Blade II di Guillermo del Toro.
