Lee Marvin (New York, 19 febbraio 1924 – Tucson, 29 agosto 1987) è stato un attore statunitense.
Vinse il premio Oscar per il miglior attore protagonista nel 1966 per l'interpretazione in Cat Ballou.
Nato a New York il 19 febbraio del 1924, riuscì a terminare i suoi studi in Florida prima dell'arrivo del conflitto. Allo scoppio della seconda guerra mondiale lascia la scuola e si arruola volontario nel Corpo dei Marines nell'agosto 1942. Assegnato alla 4ª Divisione Marine, partecipò a diverse azioni durante la guerra del Pacifico contro l'Esercito Imperiale Giapponese.
Rimase ferito alle natiche da colpi di mitragliatrice durante la cruenta battaglia di Saipan nel 1944: i dottori raccontano che quando si svegliò sulla nave ospedale pianse per non aver potuto essere a fianco dei suoi commilitoni. La ferita comunque gli procurò problemi al nervo sciatico e per questo venne congedato dai Marines, pur decorato con la Purple Heart.
