Jonathan Rhys Meyers, all'anagrafe Jonathan Michael Francis O'Keeffe (Dublino, 27 luglio 1977), è un attore, modello e musicista irlandese.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers nasce a Dublino, primogenito di quattro fratelli, viene al mondo con gravi problemi cardiaci, che fanno temere per la sua vita, costringendo la madre a ricoverarlo frequentemente in ospedale durante i primi anni di vita. Circa un anno dopo la sua nascita la sua famiglia si trasferisce nella contea irlandese di Cork.
All'età di tre anni suo padre, John O'Keeffe, divorzia, lasciando da sola la moglie Geraldine Meyers, di cui Jonathan prenderà poi il cognome, a preoccuparsi per la salute del figlio e a crescere gli altri tre bambini più piccoli, Jamie, Alan e Paul.
Rhys-Meyers trascorre un'infanzia turbolenta, diventando un ragazzo irrequieto e indisciplinato, tanto da venire espulso dalla sua scuola all'età di sedici anni. Libero dagli impegni scolastici, il ragazzo viene notato un giorno, nel 1993, da un agente della Hubbard Casting, colpito dalla bellezza androgina del ragazzo; l'incontro gli procura un'audizione con il produttore David Puttnam, alla ricerca all'epoca di interpreti per il film La guerra dei bottoni (War of the Buttons) di John Roberts (1994). Jonathan non ottiene la parte, ma, in compenso, venne scritturato per girare uno spot pubblicitario che reclamizzava in tutto il paese le minestre della Knorr.
