James Harrison Coburn III (Laurel, 31 agosto 1928 – Beverly Hills, 18 novembre 2002) è stato un attore statunitense.
Alto e dallo sguardo sempre molto rilassato, sullo schermo Coburn si presentò spesso con uno sguardo minaccioso che gli permise di connotarsi come interprete di ruoli da duro, anche se, nella sua carriera, non disdegnò di recitare in alcune commedie di carattere brillante. È conosciuto anche per aver interpretato la figura dell'agente Flint, antagonista statunitense del più popolare agente segreto britannico James Bond.
Dopo aver seguito corsi di recitazione alla University of Southern California ed aver frequentato in seguito la scuola drammatica di Stella Adler a New York, Coburn fece il suo debutto come attore teatrale. Tra il 1955 e il 1959 apparve anche in televisione, recitando in alcuni episodi di note serie televisive, quali Perry Mason e Bonanza.
Nel 1959 debuttò sul grande schermo quale co-protagonista nel western L'albero della vendetta di Budd Boetticher, mentre l'anno successivo ottenne un importante ruolo nel film I magnifici sette (1960) di John Sturges, distinguendosi per il suo fisico asciutto e agile e per l'abilità del suo personaggio nel lanciare il coltello. Con Steve McQueen e Charles Bronson, co-interpreti dello stesso film, nel 1963 Coburn partecipò a La grande fuga, diretto nuovamente da John Sturges, nei panni del prigioniero australiano Sedgewick. Nello stesso anno recitò anche nel film di spionaggio Sciarada, impersonando Tex, uno dei tre loschi avventurieri che minacciano la protagonista (Audrey Hepburn).
