Christine Madeleine Odette Lagarde, nata Lallouette (Parigi, 1º gennaio 1956), è una politica e avvocatessa francese, attuale presidente della Banca Centrale Europea.
A partire dal 2007 è stata ministra dell'Economia, dell'Industria e dell'Impiego. Nel 2011 è stata nominata direttrice del Fondo monetario internazionale, dopo le dimissioni del connazionale Dominique Strauss-Kahn, e riconfermata per altri cinque anni nel 2016.
Il 2 luglio 2019 è stata designata dal Consiglio Europeo a succedere a Mario Draghi alla Presidenza della Banca centrale europea, carica che ha assunto il 1º novembre 2019. È la prima donna a ricoprire questo incarico.
Nata a Parigi, Christine Lagarde ha frequentato la scuola secondaria prima a Le Havre e poi a Bethesda, laureandosi successivamente in legge presso l'Università di Parigi Nanterre. Dopo la laurea ha lavorato come stagista per il deputato statunitense William Cohen, futuro Segretario alla Difesa della Presidenza Clinton. Nel 1981 è stata assunta presso lo studio legale Baker & McKenzie entrando nel 1995 a far parte del comitato esecutivo, e diventando nel 1999 presidente del consiglio di amministrazione, prima donna ad accedere a questa posizione. Nei primi anni 2000 è andata a vivere in Belgio, dove ha fondato l'European Law Centre, una divisione di Baker & McKenzie che si occupa delle leggi all'interno dell'Unione Europea.
