Charles Bronson, pseudonimo di Charles Dennis Buchinsky (Ehrenfeld, 3 novembre 1921 – Los Angeles, 30 agosto 2003), è stato un attore statunitense.
Nella lunga carriera, iniziata nei primi anni cinquanta, ha interpretato spesso l'archetipo del "duro", grazie ai tratti particolari del volto, con "occhi azzurri e miti in netto contrasto con l'atteggiamento freddo e burbero".
Nel corso degli anni è stato protagonista di film divenuti dei classici, spesso di genere western e bellico, quali I magnifici sette (1960), La grande fuga (1963), Quella sporca dozzina (1967) e C'era una volta il West (1968). Ha legato il suo volto anche al personaggio del giustiziere urbano Paul Kersey nella popolare serie de Il giustiziere della notte, dal 1974 al 1994. Tra gli attori di Hollywood è riconosciuto come uno dei più grandi interpreti del genere d'azione. Recitò anche in teatro e in televisione.
Di umili origini, nacque col nome di Charles Dennis Buchinskas (sebbene alcune fonti annotino che il suo vero nome era Karolis Bučinskis, mentre altre Casimir Businskis) a Ehrenfeld, in Pennsylvania. Era l'undicesimo di quindici figli, metà dei quali morti in tenerissima età. Suo padre era un immigrato lituano di etnia tatara, originario della città di Druskininkai, mentre la madre era lituana; entrambi i genitori si erano trasferiti negli Stati Uniti dalla Lituania. Egli fu il primo membro della sua famiglia a terminare la scuola media. Da ragazzo Bronson non parlava inglese ma lo imparò negli anni a venire come lingua straniera. Il padre morì a causa del lavoro duro in miniera quando Charles aveva dieci anni, e per questo anche il giovane fu costretto a lavorare in una miniera di carbone. Guadagnava pochissimo per discrete quantità di carbone estratto. Lavorò in miniera sino a quando si iscrisse per il servizio militare durante la seconda guerra mondiale.
