Troy Aikman, né le 21 novembre 1966 à West Covina en Californie, est un joueur et commentateur sportif de football américain. De 1989 à 2000, il évolue au poste de quarterback pour les Cowboys de Dallas dans la National Football League (NFL), équipe avec laquelle il remporte trois Super Bowls : XXVII, XXVIII et XXX. Il devient ensuite commentateur de football américain.
Doté d'un physique exceptionnel, Aikman a un parcours universitaire compliqué. Exposé à des difficultés avec les Sooners de l'Oklahoma, il doit quitter l'université pour retrouver les terrains. Après une année d'inéligibilité, il retrouve du temps de jeu avec les Bruins de UCLA et prouve qu'il est l'un des meilleurs joueurs universitaires. Vainqueur de l'Aloha Bowl en 1987 et du Cotton Bowl en 1988, il est convoité par les franchises de la NFL.
Sélectionné en première position de la draft 1989 de la NFL par les Cowboys de Dallas, Troy Aikman signe le contrat le plus lucratif pour un débutant. Le quarterback devient rapidement une célébrité, jouant au poste le plus exposé de son sport pour l'une des équipes les plus populaires. Même si son style n'est pas spectaculaire, il possède l'un des bras les plus précis et puissants de la NFL. Au début des années 1990, il forme avec le running back Emmitt Smith et le wide receiver Michael Irvin la « triplette » de Dallas. Aikman mène l'attaque des Cowboys lors des titres en 1992, 1993 et 1995. Après ces sacres, la carrière du quarterback est ponctuée de nombreux revers et blessures, notamment des traumatismes crâniens, ce qui l'oblige à mettre fin à sa carrière. Meilleur passeur de l'histoire des Cowboys, il est intronisé au Pro Football Hall of Fame puis au College Football Hall of Fame.
