Thomas Hunter Campbell McDonell, né le 2 mai 1986 à New York, est un acteur, chanteur et musicien américain. Son père est éditeur et sa mère est écrivaine.
Sa première apparition au cinéma dans Le Royaume interdit au côté des grands Jackie Chan et Jet Li confirme son envie d'être acteur.
Il obtient par la suite le second rôle du film Prom, une production Disney dans laquelle il interprète lui-même le morceau Time Stand. Son interprétation de Jesse Richter, un lycéen rebelle, montre une nouvelle facette de ses capacités d'interprétation et il se fait alors remarquer pour jouer dans quatre épisodes de Suburgatory. Il est surtout connu pour avoir interprété le rôle de Finn Collins dans la série Les 100.
Comédien, chanteur et musicien, Thomas McDonell grandit à New York, entre une mère écrivain et un père éditeur. Il apparaît pour la première fois au cinéma dans Le Royaume Interdit, avec les célèbres Jackie Chan et Jet Li. Une opportunité qui lui confirme son envie de devenir acteur. 2011 marque alors un tournant dans sa carrière, lorsqu’il obtient le second rôle dans la comédie Disney, Prom. Il y joue le rebelle du lycée, Jesse Richter, chargé d’assister Amee Teegarden dans l’organisation du bal de promo. C’est ici qu’il montre une autre facette de sa personnalité : il interprète lui-même une des chansons du film, "Time Stand". Grâce à cette approche remarquée, il débarque dans la première saison de Suburgatory, dans laquelle il est le petit ami de Tessa, personnage principal de la série.
