Biographie (wiki)
Gustavo Augusto Poyet Domínguez, plus connu sous le nom de Gustavo Poyet ou Gus Poyet en Angleterre, est un footballeur uruguayen, évoluant au milieu de terrain, reconverti entraineur, né le 15 novembre 1967 à Montevideo.
Gustavo Poyet est le seul sud-américain à avoir remporté deux fois la Coupe des Coupes, en 1995 avec Saragosse, puis en 1998 avec Chelsea.
Il a disputé 26 matchs et inscrit 3 buts en équipe d'Uruguay entre 1993 et 2000.
Après avoir pris sa retraite de footballeur, il entame en 2009 une carrière d'entraîneur de football et dirige l'équipe anglaise de Brighton & Hove Albion, avec laquelle il remporte le championnat de League One en 2011. Le 11 mars 2012, il est nommé entraineur de l'année de la Football League.
Le 8 octobre 2013, il remplace Luis Fernando Suárez à la tête de l'équipe de Sunderland en signant un contrat de 2 ans. Durant sa première année en Premier League, il mène les Black Cats en finale de la Capital One Cup en éliminant Manchester United en demi-finales (1-2 t.a.b), mais doit s'incliner face à Manchester City en finale le 2 mars sur le score de 3-1. Le 19 avril 2014, il devient le premier entraîneur à infliger une défaite à José Mourinho en Premier League grâce à une victoire 1-2 sur Chelsea à Stamford Bridge. Le 2 mai 2014, grâce à une victoire 2-0 à domicile contre West Brom, Poyet réussit le pari de maintenir les Black Cats en première division, à une journée de la fin.
