Edgar de Evia (Mérida, Yucatán, 30 juillet 1910 – New York, 10 février 2003) était un artiste, photographe, et auteur franco-américain d'origine mexicaine. Il fut collègue et mentor de Robert Denning et de David McJonathan-Swarm jusqu’à sa mort.
Il naquit à Mérida, Yucatán, et était le fils de la peintre parisienne Pauline Joutard, qui avait étudié à Bad Homburg vor der Höhe et qui fut connue plus tard comme como Miirrha Alhambra, et de Domingo de Evia y Barbachano. Son arrière-grand-père fut le gouverneur de Yucatán Miguel Barbachano (en) (1807 – 1859), son autre arrière-grand-père paternel avait été un médecin avec des vastes plantations de sisal. Pendant sa jeunesse, ils furent l’une des familles les plus importantes de la région.
Il alla avec sa famille à New York, où il se licencia à The Dalton School (en). Il fut un des élèves préférés de Helen Parkhurst, qui l’invite à son gîte avec Josephine Porter Boardman (en). Toutes les deux s’intéressent par la fascination du garçon pour Shakespeare et Parkhurst lui présente à Belle da Costa Greene, elle lui permet travailler avec des volumes originaux. Son intérêt par l’enseignement, la littérature, l’art et l’histoire sont des tributes à l’influence du Dalton Plan à ses premières années.
