Stephen Stevie Ray Vaughan (Dallas, Texas; 3 de octubre de 1954 - East Troy, Wisconsin; 27 de agosto de 1990) fue un guitarrista, cantante, compositor y productor discográfico estadounidense que fusionó los géneros de blues y rock en la década de 1980. Desarrolló un sonido y estilo basado en artistas de blues como Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King, Buddy Guy y Otis Rush.
Empezó a tocar la guitarra a los siete años, inspirado en su hermano mayor Jimmie. Abandonó la escuela en 1971 y se mudó a Austin el año siguiente. Inicialmente tocó la guitarra en numerosas bandas, logrando un puesto en la banda The Nightcrawlers de Marc Benno y en la banda The Cobras de Denny Freeman, con quien siguió trabajando hasta 1977. Después formó su propia agrupación, Triple Threat Revue, cambiando su nombre a Double Trouble tras contratar al baterista Chris Layton y al bajista Tommy Shannon. Logró popularidad tras su participación en el Festival de Jazz de Montreux de 1982, y su álbum debut Texas Flood ocupó la posición número 38 en 1983, una exitosa producción que vendió cerca de medio millón de copias. Compartió escenario con Jeff Beck en 1989 y con Joe Cocker en 1990, pero falleció trágicamente en un accidente de helicóptero el 27 de agosto de 1990 a los 35 años.
