Olivier Jonathan Giroud (pronunciación en francés: o.li.vie ʒi.ʁu; Chambéry, Auvernia-Ródano-Alpes, Francia, 30 de septiembre de 1986) es un futbolista francés que juega como centrodelantero y su equipo actual es el Chelsea FC de la Premier League de Inglaterra, también es internacional con la selección de Francia.
Los ex jugadores Zinedine Zidane y Marco van Basten le contagiaron su pasión por el fútbol. Comenzó su carrera jugando para el club de su ciudad Olympique Club de Froges. Después de haber jugado 5 años allí, el Grenoble Foot 38 lo fichó con tan solo 13 años.
Tras seis años de desarrollo en la cantera del Grenoble, firmó su primer contrato profesional a los 19 años. En esa oportunidad, dijo: Mi primer contrato profesional me hizo tomar conciencia sobre mis habilidades.
Antes de la temporada 2005-06, fue promovido al equipo de reserva, que estaba jugando en el Championnat de France Amateur 2, el quinto nivel del fútbol francés. Se convirtió rápidamente en un jugador importante al anotar 15 goles en 15 partidos. Sus buenas actuaciones lo llevaron a ser convocado con la Selección Absoluta en Marzo de 2006 por Thierry Goudet. Hizo su debut profesional el 24 de marzo, que entró como sustituto a finales de partido en el empate a 1 ante el Gueugnon en la Ligue 2. Siguió formando parte del Primer Equipo el resto de la Temporada jugando cinco partidos más como suplente. Fue promocionado al Primer Equipo de forma permanente para la temporada 2006-07 por el nuevo entrenador Yvon Pouliquen y se le asignó el dorsal número 22. Después de aparecer como sustituto en el partido de la primera jornada de Liga, jugó su primer partido como titular en la derrota por 2-1 ante el Niortais. El 26 de febrero de 2007, anotó su primer gol como jugador del Primer Equipo ante el Le Havre en el tiempo de descuento, que además, sirvió para dar la victoria a su equipo. Después del partido, dijo: Un recuerdo fantástico. Mi sueño no podía ser mejor que anotar con el Primer Equipo. Un mes más tarde, jugó su tercer partido como titular ante el Gueugnon. En el partido, que terminó con empate a 0, recibió su primera tarjeta roja. Terminó la temporada con 2 goles en 18 partidos y el Grenoble acabó quinto en la clasificación.
