Laura Ann Branigan (Nueva York, 3 de julio de 1957-Brewster, Nueva York, 26 de agosto de 2004) fue una cantante de pop rock y actriz estadounidense popular en los años ochenta.
Se hizo popular con una versión de la canción "Gloria", del italiano Umberto Tozzi, por la que recibió su primera nominación al Grammy. "Self Control" (canción del cantante italiano Raffaele Riefoli), su álbum Self Control (1984) y el tema principal del mismo título se convirtieron en un número uno internacional. Otros de sus éxitos fueron: "Solitaire", "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You", "The Lucky One", "Spanish Eddie" y "The Power of Love".

Laura Branigan nació el 3 de julio de 1957 en la ciudad de Nueva York. Laura estudió en la American Academy of Dramatic Arts, en la ciudad de Nueva York, y trabajaba como camarera, mientras estudiaba. Finalmente, trabajó como corista de Leonard Cohen, durante una gira en Europa. En 1979, fue contratada por Ahmet Ertegün, de Atlantic Records, pero el sello discográfico estaba inseguro de cómo categorizarla, dado que tenía una voz fuerte, con un rango de 4 octavas.
