Fernando de Queiroz Scherer (nacido el 06 de octubre 1974 en Florianópolis) es un nadador internacional de categoría superior de Brasil, que ganó la medalla de bronce en los 50 metros estilo libre en los Juegos Olímpicos de 1996 en Atlanta, EE.UU.. También ganó otra medalla de bronce cuatro años más tarde en Sydney con el equipo de relevos de Brasil en el 4x100 metros estilo libre.
Su primer título importante de la carrera se produjo en la edición inaugural de 1993 en el Campeonato Mundial de Piscina Corta FINA en Palma de Mallorca, donde ganó los 100 metros estilo libre. Scherer es conocido como Xuxa en su país natal, y se convirtió en deportista brasileño del Año en 1995, después de ganar un oro y una medalla de plata en el Campeonato Mundial Piscina Corta FINA en Río de janeiro de 1995.
Scherer entrenado en The Race Club, un club de natación Los nadadores olímpicos fundada por Gary Hall, Jr. y su padre, Gary Hall, Sr. The Race Club, originalmente conocido como "El Equipo del Mundo", fue diseñado para servir como un grupo de entrenamiento para nadadores de élite de todo el mundo en preparación para los Juegos Olímpicos de Sydney 2000. Para ser capaz de entrenar con The Race Club, uno debe haber sido clasificado en el top 20 en el mundo en los últimos 3 años naturales o 3 superior en su país en el último año.
