Antonella Ruggiero (Génova, Italia, 15 de noviembre de 1952) es una cantante italiana.
Grabó su primer disco “Io Matia” en el año 1974. Matia es el nombre artístico con el cual Antonella empezó oficialmente una carrera como solista también en ese año, con un antiguo disco de vinilo de 45 rpm, aunque ya había colaborado con el grupo Jet en su disco de vinilo titulado “Fe, Esperanza y Caridad”, haciendo los coros. De la unión de algunos miembros del Jet y de Matia nació en 1975 la banda conocida como Matia Bazar.
Fue así que en el año 1975 ella creó ese histórico grupo junto con Piero Cassano (voz y percusiones), Aldo Stellita (bajo), Giancarlo Golzi (batería), Carlo Marrale (voz y guitarra). La voz inigualable de Antonella Ruggiero en concierto y la habilidad innovadora de los otros músicos, llevó al grupo hasta alcanzar reconocimientos sobresalientes en toda Europa. Tuvieron varios éxitos año tras año. “Ma Perché”, “Solo Tu”, “Per Un’ora d’Amore” (Por Una Hora A Tu Lado en español), “Stasera Che Sera" (Esta Tarde Que Tarde en español), “Cavallo Bianco”, “Il Video Sono Io”, “Mister Mandarino”, “Ti Sento” (Te Siento en español), “Vacanze Romane”, son algunos de esos éxitos. Su sociedad con el grupo concluyó en 1989. Después de 7 años, hizo su debut como solista con el álbum titulado “Libera”, como resultado de un viaje catártico realizado en nuevas atmósferas culturales y musicales.
