John Burke Krasinski (/krəˈzɪnski/; born October 20, 1979) is an American actor and filmmaker. He is widely known for his role as Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom The Office (2005–2013), for which he received critical acclaim and won numerous awards. He also served as a producer and occasional director of the show.
His film credits include License to Wed (2007), Leatherheads (2008), Away We Go (2009), It's Complicated (2009), Something Borrowed (2011), Big Miracle (2012), Promised Land (2012), Aloha (2015), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), and The Hollars (2016), which he co-wrote and directed.
Krasinski was born at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, to Mary Clare (née Doyle), a nurse, and Ronald Krasinski, an internist. His father is Polish-American and his mother is Irish-American. He and his two older brothers, Kevin and Paul, were raised Roman Catholic. He grew up in Newton, a suburb west of Boston.
