Rita Pavone (* 23. August 1945 in Turin) ist eine italienische Pop- und Schlagersängerin.
Pavone arbeitete nach ihrer Schulzeit in einer Turiner Hemdenfabrik als Näherin. Laut eigenen Aussagen nervte sie die Wirte von Lokalen in ihrer Umgebung so lange, bis diese sie vor Publikum singen ließen. Deshalb meldete sie ihr Vater 1962 zu einem Nachwuchsschlagerfestival in Ariccia bei Rom an. Dort wurde sie vom Veranstalter Teddy Reno, der selbst ein recht bekannter Show-Star war, entdeckt.
Bereits im nächsten Jahr 1963 belegte Pavone – 1,49 m groß, rötliche, kurze Haare, 36 Kilogramm, oft in Rollkragenpullovern auftretend − in den diversen Hitparaden in Italien die ersten Plätze. Stücke wie La partita di pallone (ihre erste Platte), Cuore, Lui und Questo nostro amore begeisterten die italienischen Teenager.
Im selben Jahr hatte sie mit voluminöser Stimme auch ihre großen Erfolge in Deutschland. Wenn ich ein Junge wär erreichte auf Anhieb Platz 2 und ein Jahr später, im Duett mit Paul Anka gelang ihnen erneut mit Kiddy Kiddy Kiss Me ein großer Erfolg. 1964 erhielt sie den Bronzenen Bravo Otto der Jugendzeitschrift BRAVO. Noch einmal, bevor sie auch in Frankreich und den USA Platten herausbrachte, hatte sie mit Arrivederci Hans einen Top-Ten-Hit.
