Biographie (wiki)
Heiko Josef Maas (* 19. September 1966 in Saarlouis) ist ein deutscher Politiker (SPD). Er ist seit März 2018 Bundesminister des Auswärtigen im Kabinett Merkel IV.
Von 2013 bis 2018 war er Bundesminister der Justiz und für Verbraucherschutz. Zuvor war er von 2012 bis 2013 stellvertretender Ministerpräsident des Saarlandes sowie Landesminister für Wirtschaft, Arbeit, Energie und Verkehr und von 1998 bis 1999 ebendort Minister für Umwelt, Energie und Verkehr.
Heiko Maas wurde als ältester von drei Söhnen eines Berufssoldaten und einer Schneiderin in einer katholisch geprägten Mittelschichtsfamilie in Saarlouis geboren. Er wuchs katholisch auf, war Messdiener und engagierte sich einige Jahre in der katholischen Jugend. Nach eigener Aussage spiegeln sich viele der Werte, die er dort kennengelernt hat, in seinem politischen Leben wider. 1987 legte Maas sein Abitur am Staatlichen Realgymnasium in Völklingen ab.
