Biographie (wiki)
Kwon Ji-yong (kor. 권지용; * 18. August 1988 in Seoul, Südkorea), besser bekannt als G-Dragon oder GD (kor. 지드래곤), ist ein südkoreanischer Popmusiker, Songwriter, Produzent, Model und Modedesigner. Er ist Leader und Rapper der Boyband Big Bang.
Seit seinem Eintritt bei YG Entertainment als Trainee im Jahr 2000 bereitete sich G-Dragon auf seine Karriere vor, die mit dem Debüt von Big Bang begann. Seitdem stand er als Rapper und Frontmann im Zentrum der medialen Aufmerksamkeit. Laut dem US-amerikanischen Fernsehsender CNN begeistert G-Dragon insbesondere mit seinem schrillen Modestil das Publikum, außerdem wird der Musiker als einer der "Gründe, aus denen Seoul die beste Stadt der Welt ist" aufgeführt. Mittlerweile zählt er zu den bekanntesten K-Pop-Künstlern überhaupt mit etlichen Nummer-eins-Hits und über 31 Millionen verkauften Alben, EPs und Singles.
G-Dragon wurde in Seoul, Südkorea geboren. Er interessierte sich früh für Tanzen und Singen und war schon mit fünf Jahren Teil der Gruppe Little Roora. Nachdem die Kindergruppe ein Weihnachtsalbum herausbrachte, wurde ihr Vertrag plötzlich beendet, was Kwon als schockierend in Erinnerung hat. Obwohl er damals der Meinung war, nicht mehr Sänger werden zu wollen, wurde er erfolgreich von SM Entertainment gescoutet, als er auf einem Ski-Ausflug mit seiner Familie war. Mit 8 Jahren wurde er Trainee unter dem Label und spezialisierte sich auf Tanz, hörte jedoch mit 13 wieder auf, da er sich unsicher war, was er eigentlich tun wollte.
