Dame Margaret Natalie Smith (d. 28 Aralık 1934), İngiliz aktris. Geniş ve çeşitli bir kariyere sahip olan oyuncu altmış yılı aşkın bir süredir sahne, film ve televizyonda yer almaktadır. Smith, 50'nin üzerinde filmde görünmüş ve İngiltere'nin en çok tanınan oyuncularından biri olmuştur.
Romford, Essex'te doğdu ancak dört yaşındayken ailesiyle birlikte Oxford'a taşındı. Babası Nathaniel Smith, Newcastle doğumluydu ve Oxford Üniversitesi'nde çalışmış bir halk sağlığı patolojistiydi, annesi Margaret (kızlık soyadı Hutton) ise Glasgow doğumlu bir sekreterdi.
Çocukken, anne ve babası Smith'e Newcastle üzerinden Londra'ya giden Glasgow treninde nasıl tanıştıklarının romantik hikayesini anlattılar. Mimarlık okulunda okumuş Alistair ve Ian adlarındaki ikiz abisi vardır. 16 yaşına kadar Oxford Lisesi'nde okudu, daha sonra oyunculuk eğitimi almak için Oxford Playhouse'a gitti.
Smith oyunculuk eğitimini Oxford Playhouse School'da aldı ve 1952'de Oxford revülerinde ve 1955'te Londra'da sahne aldı. İlk kabulünü Broadway'in 1956'daki revüsü New Faces'la almış ve Share My Lettuce (1957–58)'ın Londra revüsünde baş komedyen rolünü üstlenmiştir. Sonrasında Old Vic Londra tiyatrosunda düzenli olarak görünmeye başlamıştır. Jean Anouilh'in The Rehersal (1961) çalışmasında, Peter Shaffer’in bağlı komedileri The Private Ear and The Public Eye (1962) ve Jean Kerr’in Mary, Mary (1963) oyunlarında ününü sağlamlaştırdı. 1963'te Smith, Britanya Ulusal Tiyatro kumpanyasına katılmış ve sonraki yıl Laurence Olivier’in Othello'suna karşı Desdemona rolünü almıştır. Bu rolünü Oliver'ın 1965 yılı sinema uyarlaması olan Othello'sunda tekrar etmiş ve National Theatre'da George Farquhar’ın The Recruiting Officer (1963) oyunundaki Silvia rolü gibi rollerde ön plana çıkmıştır.
