Alyson; Aly takma ismini kullanmaktadır. Kız kardeşleri Amanda Michalka birlikte kurduğu Aly & AJ grubuyla şöhrete kavuşmuştur.
Los Angeles 'ta ailesiyle birlikte yaşıyor.
Alyson Michalka, Phil Zaman Yolculuğunda adlı Disney dizisinde 2004-2006 yılları arasında Keely Teslow karakterini canlandırdı. Dizide, kız kardeşi Amanda Michalkanın bestelediği Protecting Me şarkısını seslendirdi.
Bu sırada kız kardeşiyle (Amanda Michalka) Disney Channel'in albümleri için çeşitli şarkılar seslendirdi.
Ağustos 2005'te Alyson ve Amanda'nın (ilk sahne adları Aly & AJ) ilk albümü olan Into the Rush piyasaya çıktı, peşinden Eylül 2006'da Acoustic Hearts of Winter geldi.
2005'te Disney Channel Filmi olan Now You See It 'te oynadı. Ayrıca film için Do You Believe in Magic adlı şarkıyı kızkardeşi Amanda Michalka ile seslendirdi. Aynı yıl kızkardeşi ile Herbie Tam Gaz adlı Disney filmi için Walking on Sunshine adlı parçayı seslendirdi.
