Thomas Meunier (French pronunciation: ; born 12 September 1991) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a right back for Paris Saint-Germain and the Belgium national team.
Born in Sainte-Ode, Belgium, Meunier began playing for various youth teams, starting with RUS Saint-Ode, RUS Givry and Standard Liège, which he spent two seasons before being released over injuries. After being released by Standard Liège, Meunier revealed that his release affected him, which at one point, he was considered quitting but his mother persuaded him not to do it, saying 'No, football is your life: you just have to play football', and called a trainer at Virton for a trial. At the trial, Meunier impressed the club’s management, winning 15–3 and Meunier, himself, scored ten goals in the game, leading him to for the club. His move to Virton led him to start his professional football career there.
