Sam Ryder Robinson (born June 25, 1989) is a British singer from Maldon, England, who will represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Space Man".
Ryder attended St John Payne Catholic School in Chelmsford, Essex between 2000 and 2007.
He began working in the music industry as a singer and guitarist in 2009, working as a session player for the groups The Morning After, Blessed by a Broken Heart and Close Your Eyes. Ryder rose to prominence thanks to TikTok, where, starting with the first lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, he started posting his music covers. By the end of the same year, Ryder became the most followed artist on the platform, leading him to sign a record contract with Parlophone and the management agency TaP Music.
On 10 March 2022, it was announced that the BBC had internally selected Ryder as the UK representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Space Man".
