Roisin Conaty (/ˈroʊʃiːn ˈkɔːnətiː/; born 26 March 1979) is an English comedian, writer and actress. She won the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 2010. In 2017, Conaty created the E4 sitcom GameFace. She is also the writer, lead actress and executive producer.
Conaty's parents were both from Ireland but met in London, where her father worked for Aer Lingus and her mother was a nurse. Conaty grew up in Camden, north London. She had several retail and office jobs before starting her comedy career at the age of 24.
In 2010, Conaty won the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Festival for her show Hero, Warrior, Fireman, Liar, becoming one of only five women to receive an Edinburgh Comedy award in 30 years. In April 2011, she performed her show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
On 11 November 2010, she appeared on series 3, episode 4 of Russell Howard's Good News. Her other stand-up performances include 'The Angina Monologues' with Victoria Wood, Jo Brand, Andi Osho, Isy Suttie and Katy Brand for Sky Television, Russell Howard's Stand Up Central on Comedy Central and Live at the Apollo in December 2015. In 2016, she was a guest on the "Jonathan Ross Chat Show" alongside Richard Gere, Jack Black and Berry Gordy.
