Neil Alexander Danns (born 23 November 1982) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League One club Bury. He also plays for the Guyana national team. He began his career in 2000 as a trainee at Blackburn Rovers and subsequently played for Colchester United, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bolton Wanderers before joining Bury in 2016.
Danns began his football career at The FA's School of Excellence in Lilleshall and signed as a trainee for Blackburn Rovers, aged 16. He was previously at the set-up as a schoolboy with Liverpool. Danns then progressed through the ranks of the Blackburn Rovers’ academy. He was part of the Blackburn Rovers Youth Team squad when they lost 5–3 against Arsenal Youth Team in the FA Youth Cup.
At the start of the 2002–03 season, Danns was promoted to the first team by Manager Graeme Souness. Around the same time, he signed his first professional contract with the club. Danns made his Blackburn Rovers debut on 19 September 2002, coming on as a late substitute, in a 1–1 draw against CSKA Sofia. Three days later, on 22 September 2002, he made his Blackburn Rovers debut, coming on as a late substitute, in a 1–0 win over Leeds United. At the end of the 2002–03 season, Danns went on to make six appearances in all competitions for the side.
