Matthew "Matt" Cody Moore (born June 18, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). Moore made his MLB debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011, and was an All-Star in 2013.
Matt Moore was born on June 18, 1989, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. At the age of 7, he and his family moved to Okinawa, Japan to live on Kadena Air Base, where his father, Marty, was stationed. Matt and his family then moved to Edgewood, New Mexico, after living on Kadena Air Base for four years. There, he attended Moriarty High School and in 2007, he was named Gatorade’s New Mexico Player of the Year. Moore was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the eighth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft.
