Kai Havertz (born 11 June 1999) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and the German national team.
Upon making his debut for Leverkusen in 2016, Havertz became the club's youngest ever debutant in the Bundesliga and he became their youngest ever goalscorer when he scored his first goal the following year. In 2018, he became the youngest player to reach the milestone of 50 Bundesliga appearances.
Born in Aachen, Germany, Havertz received his first experience in football with amateur side Alemannia Mariadorf. In 2008, he was signed by second division side Alemannia Aachen where he spent two years in the club's academy before joining Bayer Leverkusen at the age of 11. In 2016, after scoring 18 goals for the club's U-17 side, he was awarded the silver U-17 Fritz Walter Medal before breaking into Leverkusen's senior side the following year.
