Josephine Langford (born August 18, 1997) is an Australian actress best known for her starring role as Tessa Young in the After film series.
Langford was born in Perth, Western Australia and raised in Applecross, a riverside suburb of Perth. She is the youngest daughter of Elizabeth Green, a pediatrician, and Stephen Langford, a flying doctor and the director of medical services at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations. Her older sister, Katherine Langford, is also an actress.
As a child, Langford became interested in music and played the saxophone, the violin, and the piano In 2008, at the age of 10, Langford wrote and performed a song called 'Shadows' for a music competition which won her the 'Song of the Year' title. She also wrote two more songs, "Lonely (2007)" and "Sea Shanty (2008)" Her secondary school, All Saints College, in Perth, classified her as a talented composer. She competed in several school music competitions. She also took part in Interschool Debating and Tournament of Minds in Years 7 & 8. For her primary and secondary school years Langford attended All Saints College in Bull Creek, Perth, Western Australia For her high school years she transferred to Perth Modern School in Subiaco, Perth, Western Australia and graduated from Perth Modern School in 2014 at the age of 17.
