José Antonio Meade Kuribreña (Spanish pronunciation: ; born 27 February 1969) is a Mexican politician, economist, lawyer, and diplomat who has served as Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of Social Development, Secretary of Energy and twice as Secretary of Finance and Public Credit. On 27 November 2017, he resigned his post as Secretary of Finance and Public Credit in order to seek the presidency as a candidate of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the 2018 presidential election, where he placed third with 16.41% of the vote.
Meade is the son of Dionisio Meade and his wife Lucía, daughter of the lawyer and sculptor José Kuribreña. The Meade Kuribreña family is a Mexican family of Irish and Lebanese descent.
Meade served as Secretary of Energy (7 January to 9 September 2011), then as Secretary of Finance in the cabinet of President Felipe Calderón (9 September 2011 to 30 November 2012).
