Ji Dong-won (Korean: 지동원, Hanja:池東沅, Korean pronunciation: or ;; born 28 May 1991) is a South Korean footballer who plays as a winger for FC Augsburg and the South Korea national team.
Born in Chuja-myeon, Jeju-do, South Korea, Ji began his career at Gwangyang Jecheol High School (Jeonnam Dragons U-18). He then moved to England, joining Reading academy in 2007 through KFA Youth Project After brief spell at Reading, Ji moved back to home country to join Jeonnam Dragons, where he started his career and scored 17 goals in 14 games in the SBS High School Challenge League in his last year at the academy. It was announced in November 2009 that Ji was promoted to the first team of Jeonnam Dragons.
Ji made his Jeonnam Dragons debut in the opening game of the season, in a 1–0 loss against Incheon United. He then scored his first goal for the club on 28 March 2010, in a 5–2 against Gangwon, followed up by a 5–2 loss against Sangju Sangmu. He then scored four more goals throughout July and August, against Pohang Steelers, Busan IPark, Jeju United and Busan IPark. He also scored a hat–trick in the Round of 16 of Korean FA, in a 7–4 win over Gyeongnam on 21 July 2010. Ji began to make an impact for the side, making an impression throughout the season. At the end of the 2010 season, Ji scored 13 goals in 29 games during the 2010 season, and finished top scorer in the Korean FA Cup. He also was nominated for the K League Young Player of the Year but lost out to Yoon Bit-garam.
