Jaye Davidson (born Alfred Amey; March 21, 1968) is an American-born British model and retired actor. He is best known for his role as the transgender woman Dil in the 1992 suspense-drama thriller film The Crying Game, for which he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and for appearing in 1994's Stargate as the god-like Ra.
Davidson, who had no acting experience, was discovered by a casting associate at a wrap party for Derek Jarman's Edward II. His androgynous look led to his casting as Dil in The Crying Game. He later played the evil sun god Ra in Stargate.
Davidson later retired from acting, stating that he "genuinely hated the fame" he was receiving. He became more driven towards modeling, and has since worked on several high-profile photo shoots. Stephen Woolley, the producer of The Crying Game, said that Davidson currently resides in Paris and reportedly "was really happy”.
