Daniel Dominik Kaiser-Küblböck (born 27 August 1985 in Hutthurm, Bavaria, Germany; lost since 9 September 2018 in the Labrador Sea - about 185 km north of St. John's in Canada) was a German pop-singer and actor who achieved short-lived celebrity status from late 2002 until 2004 in the media circus that surrounded the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS), the German version of Pop Idol, in which he came third. He was briefly promoted as Daniel K, but reverted to Daniel Küblböck as this name had already been trademarked.
Daniel rose to stardom in late 2002 when he participated in the first season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS), which was a massive ratings hit. Despite his high-pitched voice not being considered good, he became massively popular with the audience due to his special appearance and finished the show on third place.
Daniel's androgynous public personality with his distinctive Bavarian dialect was regarded by many Germans as a carefully cultivated media image of der schräge Daniel ("Wacky Daniel"). Tabloid newspapers reported that he loved wearing feminine clothes, using cosmetics and collecting perfumes and incense.
