Carlos Augusto Zambrano Ochandarte (born 10 July 1989) is a Peruvian footballer who plays as a defender for Dynamo Kyiv and the Peru national team. He is known for his strong tackling and excellent defensive capabilities.
Zambrano joined Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 at the age of 16 after playing in the U-17 World Cup in 2005, with Peru as hosts. He immediately became a cornerstone in defense and an undisputed starter for the U-19 team and scored a large number of goals.
He has been compared with Brazilian defender Lúcio for his style of play and great defense, offense, and speed.
In November 2007, he was promoted to the Schalke 04 first team.
In 2012, Zambrano signed with Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga for an estimated fee of €1.2 million. In October 2014, he severely injured his knee which kept him out of action for the first half of the season.
In January 2016, he was linked with a return to Schalke 04.
