Bernard Challandes (born 26 July 1951) is a Swiss professional football coach and former player who is a current scout of Basel and manager of Kosovo.
Challandes was born in Le Locle, Switzerland from a Swiss Italian family, he is married and is the father of player of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Mehdi Challandes.
Challandes became coach of Saint-Imier, except this he was coach of many other teams in Swiss championship as Le Locle, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Yverdon Sports, Young Boys, Servette, Zürich, Sion, Neuchâtel Xamax and Thun. Mostly it became successful during the time it was coach of Zürich and Sion, when he became champion in the 2008–09 season with Zürich and won the Swiss Cup with Sion in the 2010–11 season. From 2015, he is currently scout of Basel.
On 28 February 2014, Armenia signed with Challandes to a two-year contract to lead the team during UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying after the former coach Vardan Minasyan decided in October 2013 not to sign a new deal with the Football Federation of Armenia despite encouraging UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying and 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification campaigns. In May 2014. Challandes made his first squad announcement with Armenia for the friendly matches against United Arab Emirates and Algeria and he brought 4 new players as Aleksandr Tumasyan, Alex, Mauro Guevgeozián and Rumyan Hovsepyan. On 27 May 2014, he made his first match as Armenia manager in a 4–3 home win against United Arab Emirates. On 30 March 2015, he resigns after failed to qualify the Armenia in UEFA Euro 2016.
