Alessandro Safina (Italian pronunciation ; born 1963) is an Italian operatic pop tenor.
Born in Siena, Italy, Safina has sought to combine his interests in opera and modern pop music.
Having discovered his passion for music as a child, Safina began to study music when he was nine years old. Showing a particular aptitude for classical music, he began attending a music academy at the age of 12. At 17, he was accepted at the Conservatorio di Musica ‘Luigi Cherubini’ in Florence, Italy. In 1989, he won first place at the “Concorso Lirico Internazionale” in Manatova, Italy. The competition is dedicated to soprano Katia Ricciarelli; Safina’s performance lead to his 1990 debut, appearing with Ricciarelli, as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème.
